開業から7年を迎えた美容室に、オーナーの奥様が運営するクッキースタジオ「kammi lab」を併設する全面改装プロジェクト。
テーマは「一つの空間を二つの用途でシェアする」こと。
夫妻からの要望は「美容室は無骨で過去の店舗の雰囲気を感じる空間に、クッキースタジオは洗練された空間に」というものでした。
設計の方向性としては、過去を語る素材を再利用しながらも、現代的な要素を重ねることで建物が持つ独自の表情を尊重し、居心地の良さと引き込まれる雰囲気を兼ね備えた場を目指しました。
現地を初めて訪れた際、露出していた粗削りのコンクリート基礎に強く惹かれました。
そこで「野晒しの工業建築に美容室を設える」というコンセプトを掲げ、建物の持つインダストリアルな個性を全体に活かすことに。
壁や天井を解体して構造体をあらわにし、質感と色合いを前面に押し出すことで、空間そのものが語りかけるような力を与えています。
一方で、硬質な印象を和らげるため、カットスペースの天井に曲面を用いるなど、要所に柔らかさを加えてバランスを整えています。
クッキースタジオは、無骨な天井とモルタル床に白塗装とシナ合板を組み合わせ、静かなギャラリーのような佇まいに。
ここではお菓子づくりを作る際に、落ち着いた空気が漂います。
家具や照明、ミラー、カップボードなど、細部に至るまでヴィンテージで統一し、時間の積み重ねが空間に息づくような温もりを生み出しました。
過去の素材がデザインの一部として再生し、コンクリートの無骨さと都市的な洗練が調和する唯一無二の場へなり得たと感じています。

This project marked the full renovation of a hair salon in its seventh year, now expanded to include the owner’s wife’s cookie studio, kammi lab. The concept was to share one space for two distinct purposes. The couple requested that the salon preserve a sense of history, while the cookie studio embody efficiency and refinement.
Our design approach combined reused materials with contemporary elements, honoring the building’s character while creating a welcoming and captivating atmosphere.
The exposed concrete foundation, discovered during our first visit, became the inspiration. We developed the concept of a salon “set within an abandoned industrial structure,” using the building’s raw industrial qualities as a unifying backdrop.
Walls and ceilings were stripped to reveal the structure, showcasing concrete’s natural tone and texture—both aesthetically powerful and practical, helping to keep the interior cool in summer.
To soften the hardness, curves were introduced, such as a rounded ceiling in the cut space. The cookie studio, in contrast, became a serene gallery-like environment, combining raw ceilings and mortar floors with white finishes and plywood.
Nearly all furniture and fixtures—chairs, lighting, mirrors, cabinetry—were sourced as vintage, giving the space a soulful, lived-in atmosphere. By integrating historical materials into a modern design language, we achieved a space where industrial roughness and urban refinement coexist.
This renovation embodies more than function; it reflects the owners’ story, creating a place where history and contemporary life meet, drawing visitors in naturally.
