「UMU淡路島」は、兵庫県淡路市のオリーブ園「バージン・バレー」に誕生した移動型グランピング施設です。
まだ活かしきれていなかった自然豊かなロケーションを舞台に、地域の新しい魅力を生み出すことを目的として計画されました。
特注のトレーラーキャビンが全国を旅するという壮大なコンセプト。
その第一拠点に選ばれたのが、大阪・和歌山を一望できる淡路島北端部の絶景地でした。
敷地内には、レセプションや共用トイレ、調理用キャビン、そして宿泊用キャビンを含む全9台のトレーラーキャビンを設置。それぞれの宿泊キャビンは、目の前に広がる海を最大限に楽しめるように配置されています。
室内からは開放的にオーシャンビューを望み、外部からはプライバシーを守りながらも周囲の風景と溶け込むよう、外装にはマジックミラー加工を採用しました。
キャビン前にはアウトドアリビングを構成し、大自然の中でゆったり過ごせる環境を演出。
ダイニングは高級ガーデンファニチャー「NICHIESU」、リビングには「ASPLUND」のコンクリート家具を配し、力強いデザインを表現しています。
さらに、仲間や家族で星空を眺めながら焚き火を囲めるよう、ファイヤーピットも設置しました。
インテリアは、部屋の中心にダブルベッド2台とソファをレイアウトし、景色を主役にした設計。ホテルクオリティのマットレスや上質なリネン、素足に心地よいラグマットを選定し、安らぎの睡眠を提供します。
さらに、イタリア製の上品な寝具に本革や真鍮の家具を組み合わせることで、ラグジュアリーなプライベート空間を実現しました。
「UMU淡路島」は、自然とデザイン、そして人が交わる場所。滞在を通して、地域に新たな風景を生み出すプロジェクトです。

UMU Awaji Island is a mobile glamping facility located within the olive grove “Virgin Valley” in Awaji City, Hyogo. Designed to revitalize an underutilized natural landscape, this project also aims to foster community through outdoor experiences. With its bold concept of custom trailer cabins traveling nationwide, Awaji Island’s northern tip—boasting panoramic views of Osaka and Wakayama—was chosen as the first destination.
The site features nine trailer cabins, including a reception, shared restrooms, a kitchen cabin, and guest accommodations. Each guest cabin is positioned to maximize ocean views, with interiors offering a sense of openness, while the mirrored exterior preserves privacy and blends seamlessly into the landscape.
Outdoor living areas extend each cabin, equipped with premium garden furniture by NICHIESU and massive concrete pieces by ASPLUND, creating a bold presence. A fire pit invites guests to gather under starry skies, sharing moments with family and friends.
Inside, two double beds and a sofa are arranged to frame the scenery. Hotel-grade mattresses, fine linens, and soft rugs ensure a restful stay. The combination of Italian-made bedding with leather and brass furnishings creates a luxurious, private atmosphere rivaling high-end hotels.
UMU Awaji Island is more than a stay—it is a place where nature, design, and community converge, creating new narratives for the region.
