JR三宮駅から徒歩10分。飲食店や温泉施設が点在する利便性の高いエリアに計画した、民泊施設のリノベーションプロジェクトです。約52㎡（15.7坪）の空間を、最大4名まで快適に過ごせる宿泊施設として再構成しました。
今回の計画の出発点となったのは、「泊まるだけで終わらない場所にしたい」という視点でした。関東への出張時に民泊を利用する中で感じた、どこか窮屈で、長く滞在したくならない空間。その違和感を丁寧に拾い上げ、この場所では“過ごす時間そのものが心地よくなること”を重視しています。
特に意識したのは、滞在中の「居場所の質」です。多くの民泊では簡易的になりがちなテーブルを見直し、食事にもデスクワークにも対応できるエクステンションテーブルを採用。人数や用途に応じて広さを変えられることで、2名でも4名でもストレスなく使える設計としました。単なる宿泊機能ではなく、「滞在するための空間」としての質を整えています。
内装は、神戸という街の空気感を意識し、アートやデザイナー家具をさりげなく取り入れました。白を基調にした柔らかな空間の中に、素材感のある家具やオブジェを配置することで、過度に主張しすぎない“ちょうどいい特別感”を演出しています。どこか日常に近く、それでいて少しだけ非日常を感じられる、そんなバランスを大切にしました。
また、動線や視線の抜けを整理することで、実際の面積以上に広がりを感じられるよう配慮しています。滞在中にふと気が抜ける瞬間や、ゆっくりと時間を使える余白をつくることも、このプロジェクトの重要なテーマでした。
観光の拠点としてはもちろん、少し長めの滞在やワーケーションにも対応できるこの空間は、「泊まる場所」から「過ごしたくなる場所」へと価値を引き上げています。
限られた面積の中でも、設計次第で体験は大きく変わります。機能性と心地よさ、その両方を丁寧に積み重ねることで、この場所ならではの滞在のかたちをつくりました。

Located a 10-minute walk from JR Sannomiya Station, this project is a renovation of a 52㎡ (approx. 560 sq ft) apartment into a private accommodation for up to four guests. Positioned in a highly convenient neighborhood surrounded by restaurants and hot spring facilities, the space was redefined as more than just a place to stay—it was designed as a place to spend time.
The concept emerged from a simple but critical observation. Through repeated stays in short-term rentals during business trips, we often encountered spaces that felt restrictive—particularly when it came to working or dining comfortably. Small tables and limited usability created a subtle but constant stress. This project addresses that gap by focusing on spatial flexibility and the quality of everyday use.
At the core of the design is an extendable table that adapts to different scenarios. Whether used by two guests, shared among four, or functioning as a workspace, it provides a generous and practical surface without compromising the overall spatial balance. By allowing both dining and desk work to coexist comfortably, the design enhances the overall experience of staying.
The interior is composed with a restrained palette centered on white, allowing soft natural light to define the atmosphere. To reflect the creative identity of Kobe, designer furniture and curated art pieces are subtly integrated into the space. Rather than over-designing, the intention was to create a calm and balanced environment that supports a variety of lifestyles and rhythms.
Spatial planning was carefully considered to maximize the perceived openness within a limited footprint. By controlling furniture placement and sightlines, the space avoids a sense of density even when occupied by multiple guests. It allows individuals to maintain their own sense of distance while still sharing the same environment comfortably.
This project reinterprets the role of a private accommodation—from a functional place to sleep, to a place where time can be spent with ease and intention. It demonstrates how thoughtful design can redefine user experience, even within a compact space.
